Silver Falls State Park

Distance: 6.9 mile loop
Silver Falls State Park - Oregon’s largest state park - is a giant canyon, containing several trails and a plethora of diverse waterfalls. To reach the trailhead from Portland, head south on I-5 in route to Salem. As you approach Salem, take exit 253 east on HWY 22. Taking exit 9 will put you on Silver Falls HWY, which you will remain on until reaching the park. There are plenty of signs along the road to remind you of your destination.
South Falls

I suggest to begin your hike at the trailhead adjacent to the South Falls Lodge. There are plenty of different starting points, but South Falls Lodge is your best bet for parking. Also, the South Falls trailhead begins with an amazing view of, perhaps, the greatest spectacle at the park. 177 foot South Falls.
Lower South Falls
Following the trail under South Falls to the base of the plunge pool, turn left on Canyon Trail as it descends towards Lower South Falls. Continue on Canyon Trail as it forms a giant circle around Silver Falls State Park, eventually bringing you right pack to the South Falls Lodge parking lot.
Double Falls
Ilan DeMarco under Middle North Falls
Along the way you will witness some amazing waterfalls: Lower North Falls, Double Falls, Middle North Falls, and Winter Falls, to name a few.
Winter Falls in the Winter
I suggest taking a detour around the rim trail, in route to North Falls. The cylinder shaped trail spans an additional 2 miles and brings you right back to Winter Falls along the Canyon Trail without missing a beat.
